Stage 5

From the refuge Vallferrera toTavascan by the refuge Baborte

Unevenness: +1.215, -2.000m.
Distance: 19,3 kms.
Time: 8h 45min.
Dificulty: *** It is the longest stage of the circuit, although we consider that it is not as hard as the 3rd stage, since the arrival is down and the road is easier.
GPS: Wikiloc

The path passes through the pretty lakes of Baborte, it goes up to the Roca Cigalera of 2667 metres and follows the hillock to, later, flank the mountains of Boldís, and arriving at the GR 11 follow to Tavascan.
For the people that don't do competition there are two easier options:

We can do a shorter stage, but very interesting, going down to the Plans de Boavi by the Sellente valley, and from here by the forest road to Tavascan, where we will arrive in about 8 hours.

1.-From the refuge of Vallferrera we descend to the track, we cross the river again and through a thick forest we get raised up to the Basella hut.
2.-From the Cabana de Basello we climb in zigzag until the forest disappears. We pass the Baborte lake and the refuge of Baborte to go to the Sellente pass to the west.
3.-We go down and after a trail we will go back to the steep slope on the Coll de la Llacuna. More gently we reach the Cigalera Rock from where we can see a panoramic view of the whole path.

4.-We descend the broad back to the Collada de la Ribera and we turn the valley towards the landings of the Cabana de la Ribera where we follow the path.

5.-We went down the river to begin the great mountain flanking that becomes very long because we do not lose much unevenness for a long time. Finally, from crumbling huts we turn to descend to the village of Tavascan

Attention!!

The carrying-out of this circuit can involve some riskes and troubles that each person must value according one's own experience, exempting from responsibility to its promoters. If you doubt, you can get carried away by a mountain guide.
